Description: These are micronized ultracalcinated aluminum silicate particulates with predominantly lamellar formats. The particulates are surface coated with different organosilanes: ITASIL 2115 and 2115A: vinylic organosilane; ITASIL 2115B: aminosilane; ITASIL 2215C; mercaptosilane. The ITASIL 2115 and 2115A products are indicated for polyester based coatings curable with organic peroxide. The ITASIL 2115B and ITASIL 2115C products are indicated for PU and EP based coatings curable with amino (- NH2) and mercapto (- SH) groups. The products coated with vinylic organosilane (- CH=CH2), that is, ITASIL 2115 and 2115A are hydrophobic, while, ITASIL 2115B and 2115C are polar and hydrophilic, due to the presence of surface groups - NH2 and SH, respectively. The particulates coated with these organosilanes are good fluidity powders, providing easy dosage by gravity and dispersion. The products act as mechanical reinforcement, due to the formation of covalent connections between the coated particulates and the resin, during the curing process. The coated products provide the coatings with mechanical resistance and thermal shock resistance, compressive resistance, durability in saline environments and exposed to the elements, and good coating power.
